Wineries, chefs, and guests braved high winds and a nasty wreck, which clogged traffic throughout the valley, to attend last Thursday’s WWS event Celebrating Diversity: Pairing Wine with Ethnic Cuisine. Guests enjoyed a beautiful evening at Cuvaison Estate’s tasting room as Sommelier Barbara Paige led guests through the challenges of choosing a wine to complement the various spices of Moroccan, Indian, Vietnamese, and Spanish foods.  “When pairing wines with food, we are looking at the contrasting or complementing flavors, the intensity of the flavors, how the foods have been prepared, and the usage of spices,” stated Barbara.

A big thanks to wineries and chefs who made the evening possible.  The wines of Robledo, Cuvaison, Blue Rock, Caldwell Vineyards, and Ledson Winery paired deliciously.

We also raised $760 for the WWS Scholarship Fund, made possible with the generous donations of a myriad of wonderful donors. The raffle and silent auction results brings our total to  $1,760⎯ getting us closer  to our goal of $2,500 for the year’s end.
